Consider the marvelous creation of flowers. Every part of them serves a purpose: the shape, color, scent, and texture all designed to lure in wildlife, playing a pivotal role in nature. My hope is to keep the viewer in a prolonged gaze considering how each piece was carefully painted and represents the majesty of our God. I looked at something beautiful and painted it beautifully, trying to imitate God’s creation with the same goal of luring the viewer in. I wanted to capture the weight of a peony almost drowning in its million petals, the ridged firmness of a tulip, the flyaway softness of a gladiola, the sensation of the morning sun on a rose, and the feeling of a ranunculus opening even as you looked at it.
